The big story in The Stamford Times this week is the high school basketball doubleheader involving Westhill and Trinity. The Trinity boys trekked across town to play at Westhill while the Crusaders girls hosted the Vikings at Walsh Court. The games proved to be a split as the TC boys and Westhill girls earned victories [...]

After a very successful fall, the King school is forging ahead on an equally impressive winter. The Vikings’ varsity hockey team has jumped out to a 3-1 record in the early going.
According to their web page, goalie Jack Meehan has been outstanding, as well, as their defense led by senior co-captains Vincent Love, Scott Banerjee [...]

Say this for King’s Briana Brown. She’s on pace to score a million points in her career, at least it seems that way, but for such a high-scoring individual, she really knows how to play a team game.
The junior guard tossed in 24 points to help her Vikings beat Greens Farms Academy, 64-45, on Monday [...]

Anybody who has followed girls basketball in the city over the last decade or so many not recognize the scene. Oh sure, the teams are the same, the uniform colors remain as vivid as ever and Tom Kriz is entering his third decade as head coach at Trinity Catholic.
With so many star players having left [...]

The King Vikings were in perfect position to cap their undefeated season, but unfortunately the Milton Academy squad out of Massachusetts scored 22 unanswered second half points to take a 29-14 win in West Hartford in Saturday’s NEPSAC Championship game.
Fumbles reportedly costed the Vikings dearly in the second half as King saw a 14-7 halftime [...]

King’s Silas Redd (304 rushing yards on 10 carries) was named the FCIAC Football Blog’s BlueStreak Sports Training Fairfield County Co-Player of the Week with Newtown linebacker Kris Arndt.
I say put both players inside the 10-yard line and whoever wins a best-of-three battle gets the award. If Arndt tackles Redd, he gets it. If Redd [...]

One look at the Week 9 schedule for the city’s football teams and you have to wonder: Is this the toughest overall week of the season for Stamford-based high school football teams?
The Black Knights travel to Greenwich, which despite their 5-3 record, is still Greenwich at home.
Westhill treks up to Trumbull, which might be 4-3 [...]

There is more pigskin action today:
Westhill, ranked No. 13 in the state CIAC LL rankings, will be hosting a winless Fairfield Warde squad. The Vikings (4-2) are currently riding a four-game win streak behind the play of Adler Florian and Danny Berischa.
King remains undefeated and will host Rye Country Day School for their Homecoming. Kevin Pierre-Louis [...]
