Westhill High School placed its top two cross country runners on the 2008 All-FCIAC First Team.
Sophomore Maddie Elkins, pictured at left, was on the girls team while senior Andrew Erskine was a member of boys First Team.

The FCIAC Cross Country championships were decided on Thursday at Waveney Park in New Canaan and while the Wilton girls and Danbury boys won league championships, so local runners had some good days, too. Here’s the breakdown of city runners who took part:

This just in from the Wilton Invitational on Saturday: Westhill’s Maddie Elkins placed sixth out of 163 runners at the 20th cross country extravaganza in Wilton. She coasted the 2.5-mile course in 14 minutes, 36 seconds.
Last week, she also ran a strong race at Danbury, placing second out of 52 runners.

The Westhill High School cross country team put together a couple of strong individual efforts during their season-opening meet at Danbury on Wednesday afternoon.
Andrew Erskine won the boys meet in 14 minutes, six seconds, knocking off the Danbury field of runners, as well.
