Switching to a new website is more than just clicking a switch. Common sense dictates that.

But I do have to admit I’m not sure what the delay is in sending up the current “web addresses” that host our sports blogs and link them to the new blog website. I can type words into a blog, or add photos and videos, but when it comes to the blog itself, you might as well ask me to change the transmission in your car.

So here’s the deal. After days of waiting for this web address to be linked to our new blog website, where we can try to pick up where we left off in quest for getting back on track with the coverage of all of Stamford athletics, instead of coming here, here’s the new blog link: http://www.thehour.com/blogs/stamford_sports_scene/

Copy, paste and bookmark and follow us once again.

Sometimes a player is so talented in one facet of a sport that you overlook the other parts of their game.

Westhill’s Allison Macari was her usual self on the mound but she helped her own effort by going three for three at the plate with four RBI to lead the Vikings to a 14-0 win over Trinity Catholic on Saturday.

Macari allowed only one hit and struck out seven in an abbreviated three-inning stint on the mound. It was a bounce back win for the Vikings and their ace after losing a 3-1 decision to Masuk to open the season. Westhill is now 1-1.

Macari was not alone in her efforts as Westhill slapped out 11 hits. Morgan Kurtz drove in three runs with two hits and Tammi Wise plated two more with a pair of base knocks. Emily Spoto slammed a three-run homer run and then pitched the last two innings of one-hit relief to close out the shortened affair.

Trinity is now 1-2. Captain Caitlyn Ornousky’s single and Ktae Spielman’s double were the only hits for the Crusaders.

Longtime Stamford High School boys basketball coach Jim Moriarty is expected to be named athletic director for the Black Knights, possibly as soon as tonight or Wednesday.

Mulitple sources within Stamford High have confirmed that the school’s administration has told them Moriarty’s name has been submitted to the Superintendent of Schools as the replacement for current AD Pete Samperi.

Samperi, who just turned 64, is retiring after this school year.

“I’m still waiting for the official word from downtown,” said Samperi, referring to the Stamford Public Schools Central Office. He refused to make any further comments on what might be holding the process up.

Moriarty has not submitted a letter of resignation as basketball coach, but is expected to do so once the approval becomes official.

Sarah Arnold, spokesman for Stamford Public Schools, said she expected the Board of Education’s Labor Committee to broach the subject at Tuesday’s meeting.

“The BOE Labor Committee will discuss the AD position next Tuesday night (April 4) and a decision is expected then,” Arnold wrote in an e-mail to The Stamford Times last week.

Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Winifred Hamilton has reportedly had Moriarty’s name on her desk for more than a week, but has yet to act on it.

This story will be udpated throughout the day on Tuesday and a complete story will be published in the March 8 edition of The Stamford Times.

Associate Sports Editor George Albano — who resident sports history buff — has been hard at work preparing this five day series which will not only include recaps of each decade and changes that happened within the league, but he’s also produced a list of sidebars that will take the reader deep into the history through the eyes of former athletes, coaches and athletic directors.

The FCIAC, of course, is celebrating its 50th anniversary of Saturday with a dinner and dance; but it wouldn’t be much of a celebration without remembering what has made the league so great so generations of Fairfield County athletics and their families.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine laughed off Miami Marlins counterpart Ozzie Guillen’s profane reference toward him, commenting: “Isn’t that his standard comment on everything?”

Guillen was ejected from Monday’s spring training game against Boston for arguing a foul call, and Valentine waved goodbye a couple of times.

After the game Guillen said he would have uttered a profanity at Valentine had he seen the gesture. Informed of Guillen’s comment by Red Sox media relations director Pam Ganley, Valentine said before Wednesday night’s exhibition against the New York Yankees: “Has he ever not said that about something?”

Famous for returning to the dugout wearing a fake mustache and sunglasses after being ejected from a game while managing the New York Mets in 1999, Valentine seemed surprised at the attention his hand motion brought about. “I was kind of waving at Ozzie yesterday to get his attention and say goodbye: See you in Miami,” Valentine said. “It became a big thing. In spring training.”
